Heidi’s House of Hope, a local non-profit organization, has received the green light from the Johnson City Regional Planning Commission to develop a 184-unit affordable housing project on Frank Jones Road. This initiative aims to empower renters and provide them with the opportunity to transition into homeownership, addressing the growing need for affordable housing in the community.
Heidi’s House of Hope is dedicated to not only providing affordable housing but also educating the community about real estate investment. Founder Lauren Schreiber emphasizes the importance of empowering renters to become homeowners.
“We want to empower renters to become homeowners and help them build wealth through homeownership,” Schreiber stated.
The organization aims to educate individuals about various funding options and grants available to assist them in purchasing homes, helping them break free from the cycle of rising rents.
The approved development will feature:
In addition to housing, the development will include several communal amenities aimed at fostering a sense of community among residents:
Schreiber envisions these amenities as essential components of the community, providing spaces for residents to connect and support one another.
Heidi’s House of Hope plans to break ground on the development in the spring. The organization, led by Lauren and her husband Brett, is motivated by their experiences as landlords and the challenges faced by their tenants.
“It was seeing some of our tenants struggle that gave me the idea for the development,” Schreiber shared.
With this project, they hope to make a significant impact on the local housing market and provide a pathway to homeownership for many families in need.
As the project progresses, the community will be kept informed about developments and opportunities to engage with the initiative, ensuring that the vision of affordable housing becomes a reality for Johnson City residents.
