Nonprofit America 250 is making dreams come true for children across the United States by offering free field trips to iconic locations. This initiative, part of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026, aims to inspire young minds and broaden their horizons.
Ever dreamt of visiting Yellowstone, climbing to the crown of the Statue of Liberty, or walking around the New York Stock Exchange? For 75 lucky kids, including nine from New York, these dreams became a reality thanks to America 250. This nonprofit organization is dedicated to helping children across the country reach for their dreams by honoring the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026.
One of the selected children, 12-year-old Aryan Saha from Lake Forest, California, described the experience as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Aryan had the chance to meet top executives at the Bank of New York, former U.S. Treasurer Rosie Rios, and even go behind the scenes at the Federal Reserve.
Another participant, 16-year-old Olivia Fontes from Brooklyn, a sophomore at La Guardia High School of Music and Art and Performing Arts in NYC, wrote a poem that earned her a spot among the winners. Out of the 75 young people chosen, eight are from New York.
The field trips are part of a new national program called America’s Fieldtrip. The honorary co-chairs of this program are former First Ladies Michelle Obama and Laura Bush, along with former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush. One of the sponsors of the program is the Bank of New York.
This is just the beginning for America 250. The organization has several other programs in the pipeline, including America Gives, which is partnering with Walmart. In New York City, there will be a ship parade next year as part of the celebrations.
America 250 is not just about celebrating a milestone; it’s about inspiring the next generation to dream big and reach for the stars. By providing these unique opportunities, the nonprofit is making a lasting impact on the lives of young people across the country.
