One of the selected children, 12-year-old Aryan Saha from Lake Forest, California, described the experience as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Aryan had the chance to meet top executives at the Bank of New York, former U.S. Treasurer Rosie Rios, and even go behind the scenes at the Federal Reserve.

Another participant, 16-year-old Olivia Fontes from Brooklyn, a sophomore at La Guardia High School of Music and Art and Performing Arts in NYC, wrote a poem that earned her a spot among the winners. Out of the 75 young people chosen, eight are from New York.

America’s Fieldtrip Program

The field trips are part of a new national program called America’s Fieldtrip. The honorary co-chairs of this program are former First Ladies Michelle Obama and Laura Bush, along with former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush. One of the sponsors of the program is the Bank of New York.

This is just the beginning for America 250. The organization has several other programs in the pipeline, including America Gives, which is partnering with Walmart. In New York City, there will be a ship parade next year as part of the celebrations.
